J.E. Ekornes AS in Sykkylven is one of the production companies within the Ekornes Group. The company consists of the main plant at Ikornnes together with the former Vestlandske Møbler AS factory, which was taken over by J.E. Ekornes AS in January 1997, and former Johan P. Tynes AS (taken over by J. E. Ekornes in october 2002).

J.E.Ekornes AS manufactures Stressless® chairs and Stressless® sofas.

One of the distinguishing features of the factory is the large number of components manufactured on the premises. Production includes the sewing department, upholstery/assembly, joinery/varnishing, manufacture and surface treatment of steel components, as well as production and formcasting of foamed plastic. The Vestlandske department manufactures the laminate for Stressless® and other furniture products. These are cutting edge skills built on many years' experience.

Production of foamed plastic is sufficient for all Ekornes's own requirements, and in addition to this, a considerable volume is sold to other furniture manufacturers.

Ekornes Fetsund AS, located in Romerike, is a leading mattress manufacturer. The company runs a modern and well-equipped factory, which produces foamed plastic and Svane® mattresses. A large number of components are made on the premises.

The factory's production of high-quality fiber-filled foamed plastic is recognized for its efficiency. Other Scandinavian manufacturers purchase the surplus volume.

Ekornes Grodås AS is located at Hornindal on the Nordfjord. The company specializes in the manufacture of internal and exposed wood components for sofas. Parts are also manufactured for the Stressless collection.

The plant with its modern machinery, which is also designed for the surface treatment of exposed wood, is operated on an order-driven basis.

Ekornes Stranda AS is in the municipality of Stranda. The company is a continuation of two companies, Stranda Lenestolfabrikk AS and P.I. Langlos Fabrikker AS, which were acquired by Ekornes in the 1970s.

The company is one of the Group's two sofa manufacturers (the other being Ekornes Hareid AS), and is the most efficient factory of its kind in Norway. Production is order-driven, and involves the assembly of wood components, sewing and form moulding. The modern machinery includes sewing machines and computer-controlled equipment for cutting according to pattern.

A fully automatic conveyor-belt system, based on car assembly lines, is used for the internal transport of finished and semi-manufactured goods. This system operates on all three floors of the building.

The Group's testing workshop and central fabric stores are also located at this factory. All fabrics are tested for weight, wear-resistance, light-fastness etc., before being sent out to the various production plants.

Ekornes Hareid AS, located in the municipality of Hareid, is a continuation of Utgård Mestermøbler AS which was acquired by Ekornes in 1996. Ekornes ASA bought the production equipment and assumed responsibility for the company employees, while entering into a long-term leasing agreement with Utgård Holding AS to rent Utgård's production plant. Measuring approximately 43,000 square feet, the factory is modern and spacious, with everything on one floor.

The company is one of the Group's two sofa manufacturers (the other being Ekornes Stranda AS). Production is order-driven, and involves the assembly of wood components, sewing and form moulding. The modern machinery includes sewing machines and computer-controlled equipment for cutting according to pattern.
